The Karnataka government on Thursday issued the official notification allocating portfolios to members of the newly formed Cabinet headed by Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. The news comes a day after Shivakumar was sworn in as Chief Minister following the resignation of Siddaramaiah on May 28. The oath was formalised through a pre-agreed power-sharing arrangement within the Congress, putting an end to months of speculation over the state’s leadership transition.

The notification claimed that Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and Chief Minister Shivakumar will retain the Finance, Cabinet Affairs, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), and Intelligence portfolios, along with all unallocated departments.

Congress leader Priyank Kharge, son of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, was given the responsibilities of the Home Department, along with Information Technology & Biotechnology and E-Governance.
