Weather News: After a brief halt, the Southwest monsoon is once again active in Karnataka, lashing the state with heavy rainfall. The state was hit with heavy rains on Wednesday and in the early hours of Thursday, leading to massive waterlogging and a flood-like situation in several parts of the state, particularly in the Hubbali area of Dharwad.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast: Yellow Alert In Place
Bengaluru is expected to receive heavy rainfall as the weather department has placed the green city under a yellow alert for heavy rain on Thursday. Several parts of north and central Bengaluru were hit by heavy rain on Wednesday evening, leading to severe waterlogging and traffic disruptions.
Karnataka Weather Forecast
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a seven-day warning in Karnataka, anticipating ‘widespread’ rainfall till June 17. Coastal and Northern interior Karnataka will witness heavy rainfall until June 17, while southern interior Karnataka will see ‘fairly widespread’ rainfall until June 14, which will intensify into heavy rain after that and persist until June 17.
Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi districts of Coastal Karnataka are expected to see heavy to very heavy rainfall with a wind speed of 30 to 40 kmph. Similar weather predictions have been made for Belagavi, Dharwad and Gadag districts in north interior Karnataka with a sustained wind of 50 to 60 kmph.
In south interior Karnataka, the weather department has predicted heavy to very heavy rain with sustained wind at 50-60 kmph for Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu districts.
“Heavy rain with sustained wind at 40 to 50 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over Koppal, Haveri, Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Kalburgi and Raichur districts. Moderate rain with sustained wind at 40-50 kmph is likely to occur at most places over Bidar and Yadgir districts,” IMD said in its report.
Belgaum, Gadag, Dharwad, Uttar Kannada, Shimoga, Udupi and many more have been placed under red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall.

According to the weather department, the weather in Karnataka is likely to remain similar till June 17.
