Bengaluru Weather: Bengaluru is expected to receive its first pre-monsoon rainfall this week, days after experiencing the hottest day of the year on March 7. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted light showers and thundershowers in several districts of South Interior Karnataka and Coastal Karnataka between March 11 and 13.
Karnataka Weather Forecast
The Bengaluru Met Centre has forecast isolated rainfall in 12 districts, including Bengaluru Urban. N Puviarasan, Head of the Met Centre, Bengaluru, explained that the showers would be accompanied by thunder and lightning. He attributed the rainfall to convection, a process where heat and moisture move vertically through the troposphere.
Karnataka Weather: THESE Districts To Face Heavy Rain
According to the IMD, districts such as Kolar, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapura, Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Mandya, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, and Hassan in South Interior Karnataka, along with Dakshina Kannada and Udupi in Coastal Karnataka, are likely to witness light thundershowers. However, dry conditions are expected to persist in other parts of the state.
No Relief from Heat
Despite the rainfall forecast, temperatures in Bengaluru are unlikely to drop significantly. The city is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 34 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 20 degrees Celsius on March 11. Coastal districts will continue to experience hot and humid conditions. The IMD has advised vulnerable groups, including infants, the elderly and individuals with chronic illnesses, to avoid heat exposure.
