Karnataka Weather: With the southwest monsoon strengthening across Karnataka, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts for several districts. The alerts cover coastal and Western Ghats areas, while a yellow alert has been issued for parts of interior Karnataka, including Bengaluru. These conditions are expected to continue for the next four days.
Bengaluru Weather
On Monday, June 16, Bengaluru witnessed a cool and rainy morning. The temperature hovered between 19.6 degrees Celsius and 23.1 degrees Celsius, accompanied by high humidity levels of 86 per cent and a rain probability of 88 per cent. Winds were recorded at 35.6 km/h, with moderate visibility of 9.7 km. Overcast skies and patchy rainfall are likely to persist throughout the day.
The IMD attributed the ongoing rainfall to two major weather systems. One is an upper air cyclonic circulation over Marathwada and the other is a trough extending from this system up to coastal Andhra Pradesh via Telangana. Additionally, a previous cyclonic system over the Bay of Bengal has now merged with another over southern Bangladesh, leading to widespread showers across Karnataka.
Karnataka Weather
As per the forecast, heavy to very heavy rainfall, along with strong winds (40–50 kmph), is likely over coastal and north interior Karnataka. Bengaluru and other parts of south interior Karnataka may receive light to moderate rain over the next few days.
