Bengaluru Techie Viral Post: Tired of wasting hours on the road, a Bengaluru techie recently took to X to share his frustration, and his post quickly went viral. What started as a regular work commute has now made him question his entire decision to settle in the city. He shared that his office is just 6 km away, but somehow the journey takes around three hours, no matter what time he leaves home. “The traffic situation in Bangalore is incomprehensible. I leave for the office at 9 or 9:30 am and reach around 12 pm! Irrespective of when I leave. It’s only a 6 km ride.”

The daily struggle behind the wheel became too much, and now he’s switched to cabs. But that too is no relief, “Can’t even think about taking my own car and driving in such stress, so have to book Uber etc, which is around 5-600 rs per ride during these peak hours." Even with the option to work in a hybrid setup, traffic jams in the morning leave him and his colleagues drained. He shared, “Nice that my office has a hybrid model, but we still have to face this every other morning…Takes all the energy and motivation of working hard out of the picture. Can only do focus work from home."

He also pointed out just how frustrating the situation has become: some people who live within 500 metres of the office are choosing to walk through traffic instead of taking cabs. He called it out clearly: “This is completely unacceptable for a city like Bangalore. I chose this city about 10 years ago over international opportunities, and now I have had enough.” His honest post touched a nerve with many online. Bengaluru users flooded the comments with their own stories, proving that his struggle is one shared by thousands in the city.

During my stay, I start very early (around 7/7:30 AM) to beat the traffic .. I do realise, though, that it's difficult to sustain this model for a long time."

"Bangalore autos don’t look for passengers. They look for control. They wait, they watch, they wait till you break. Go to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and autos pull up before you even raise a hand. You’re not booking a ride in Bangalore. You’re begging for a ride, and they abuse the demand," a second user added. "The test becomes tougher when it is filled with rainwater," added a third user.
