Karnataka Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert and a yellow alert in several areas of Karnataka for thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and heavy rainfall from May 15 to May 18.
The Karnataka districts were placed under an orange alert by the India IMD on May 15, warning of high winds, thunderstorms, and heavy rain. However, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshin Kannada are under a yellow alert.
Heavy rain and hailstorms hit numerous sections of the city on Monday, with hail falling in places like Kalyan Nagar. The heavy rain caused slow-moving vehicles, waterlogging in low-lying places, and extreme traffic congestion. The floods caused several routes to become partially obstructed.
Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka are all under the warning, as isolated disruptions are possible and weather conditions are predicted to stay unpredictable.
Although the alerts do not signal hazardous weather, the IMD has made it clear that people should exercise caution, particularly in places that are susceptible. All regions' weather is forecast to stabilise starting on May 19, and no warnings have been issued for the May 19–21 timeframe.

Meanwhile, a thunderstorm that started in northwest Bengaluru and moved southwest, intensifying over Magadi in the evening, pounded the town of Magadi in the Ramanagara district, which received the most rainfall in the state, with 105 mm recorded until 6:00 AM this morning.
