Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express: The Indian Railways has announced plans to extend the Vande Bharat service, currently running between Katra and Srinagar, to Jammu. Divisional Railway Manager (Jammu), Vivek Kumar, on Thursday said that preparations are underway to support the expansion of semi-high-speed service.
Speaking to the reporters, Kumar said that the plan to connect Jammu directly with Srinagar through the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat service has been delayed due to extensive damage to the railway tracks caused by heavy rain and flooding.
However, he assured that restoration work is progressing swiftly, and the service will be launched as soon as the necessary safety clearances are obtained, Jagran.com reported. Currently, two eight-coach Vande Bharat trains run between Katra and Srinagar.
“We are working on it. The delay occurred because of massive damage to tracks due to floods and heavy rains. But sooner or later, this service will be available to the people of Jammu,” Kumar added.
