Kerala ISIS Indoctrination Case: The 16-year-old teenager, who escaped from a religious study centre in Kerala, where he was reportedly being groomed to join ISIS, has accused his mother and stepfather of allegedly encouraging him to join ISIS.
The stepfather of the teenager has been identified as the brother of a suspect in a 2016 terror case, sources said on Thursday.

Sources told NDTV that the teen’s stepfather, Ansar Aslam, is the brother of Siddhiqui Aslam, one of the accused in a case filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for plotting terror attacks in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
According to NDTV, Ansar briefly came under the lens of investigative agencies in 2016 while they were probing a terror case against his brother, Siddhiqui Aslam. In 2016, Ansar was in Ukraine and then went to the UK.
In 2016, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) busted the Ansar-ul-Khilafah Kerala group in Kanakamala, Kannur, for allegedly planning attacks in Kerala and neighbouring Tamil Nadu. Multiple arrests were made, and a total of eight individuals were named in NIA’s chargesheet, the report added.

The brother of the teen’s stepfather, Siddhiqui, was sentenced to three years in jail under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). He was caught in Saudi Arabia with the help of Interpol and deported to India, where he was arrested upon arrival at Delhi airport.
The mother of the 16-year-old teenager converted to Islam following her second marriage to Ansar Aslam. The 16-year-old teenager, after escaping ISIS Indoctrination attempts at a religious study centre in Kerala, stayed with the relatives of his biological father.
The Kerala Police have asked the NIA to take over the ISIS Indoctrination case as the matter potentially involves cross-border elements, including ideological grooming through propaganda videos.
