Kerala Free Bus Travel Scheme: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced a new scheme offering free bus travel to cancer patients for treatment-related journeys to any hospital within the state. The initiative was earlier announced by Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar.
In an order dated October 29, 2025, Kerala State Road Transport Corporation Chairman and Managing Director Pramoj Sanker announced that cancer patients can travel free of cost on all KSRTC buses, from ordinary to superfast services, for chemotherapy, radiation, and other treatment-related journeys, news agency PTI reported.

Application Process And Eligible Documents For Free Travel RFID Card
Eligible cancer patients must follow these steps to apply for a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) card:
- Submit an application through the website keralartcit.com.
- Provide a recent passport-sized photograph.
- Upload a copy of your Aadhaar Card.
- Submit a valid proof of residential address.
- Attach a certificate issued by an oncologist confirming the treatment requirement.
- Once the submitted documents are verified by the KSRTC headquarters, the RFID will be delivered to the applicant’s residence by the respective unit officer.

Strict Warning Against Fraudulent
The corporation has also issued a strict warning that if any medical documents are found to be fraudulent, legal action will be taken and the RFID card will be cancelled.
Earlier, cancer patients visiting the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) could only avail a half-fare concession on KSRTC’s ordinary and city buses. With this new scheme, patients travelling to any hospital within Kerala for cancer-related treatment will now be able to travel free of cost on all KSRTC buses.
