Bengaluru News: A couple lost their lives and two others were seriously injured after a speeding ambulance crashed into multiple two-wheelers at the busy KH Junction in Bengaluru’s Wilson Garden late on Saturday night.
The incident occurred around 11 PM near Richmond Circle when several riders had stopped at a red light. According to police, the ambulance, allegedly driven at high speed and in a reckless manner, rammed into the scooters from behind, dragging one for a few metres before crashing into a police outpost.

The victims were identified as Ismail Nathan Dabapu (40) and his wife Sameena Banu (33), who were riding a Suzuki Access scooter. Both sustained critical injuries and died on the spot. The other two victims, Mohammad Ryan (29) and Mohammad Siddique (32), who were on a Honda Dio scooter, suffered serious injuries. Ryan was later discharged after treatment, while Siddique remains in intensive care at a private hospital.
The Deccan Herald report cited Police as stating that, the ambulance, a Force Tempo Traveller, was travelling from Shanthinagar towards Lalbagh when it hit the couple’s scooter. The impact threw them off their vehicle, causing the driver to lose control. The ambulance then struck the second scooter before coming to a stop after hitting a traffic signal operator box on the footpath.
Following the collision, an angry crowd gathered at the site and overturned the ambulance. A video from the scene showed bystanders attempting to move the damaged vehicle, with wrecked motorcycles and a damaged police outpost nearby.

An FIR has been registered against him under sections related to rash and negligent driving, causing death by negligence, and provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Preliminary investigation revealed that excessive speed and reckless driving were the primary causes of the accident. Police have taken the vehicle into custody and are verifying whether it was being used for emergency duty at the time of the crash.
