In a superstition-fueled abuse, a young woman was forced to drink alcohol and smoke beedi as part of a black magic performed on her to evic ghost from her body.
The incident took place in the Kottayam district of Kerala on Saturday, when she was subjected to hours-long physical and mental torture in the name of black magic by her partner and his family.

Last week, the woman’s partner and his family called a sorcerer to their house, saying they wanted to 'drive out a ghost' from her body. They made her go through hours of torture.
When her mental health got worse, her father filed a complaint. Police registered a case and started an investigation.
Police said the sorcerer Shivadas (54), the woman's partner Akhil Das (26) and his father Das (54) were arrested in this regard on Friday.
According to the complaint, the partner's mother arranged for the sorcerer and the ritual, claiming the woman was possessed by the evil spirits of her dead relatives.
"The black magic started by 11.00 am on the day and lasted till night. I fell unconscious at the end," the woman told the media on Saturday.
She alleged that, amidst the ritual, she was given alcohol, forced to smoke beedi, made to consume "sacred ash", and subjected to other forms of physical torture, including burn injuries.
The sorcerer, the prime accused in the case, who had gone into hiding after switching off his phone following the incident, was arrested from the Muthoor area in Thiruvalla, police said.

Police further said that the partner's mother, who is co-accused in the case is currently at large. The arrested were remanded by a court later, police added. Those arrested were remanded by a court later, police added.
