Kerala Weather:  The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced orange and yellow alerts in various districts. An orange alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki on August 19 and in Ernakulam on August 20.

An orange alert has also been issued by IMD on Tuesday in Kochi. There's a chance of heavy rain in remote areas.

The IMD classifies extremely heavy rainfall as 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm over 24 hours.

Yellow Alert In These Areas

The weather department has issued a yellow alert for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki on Sunday, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kannur, and Kasaragod on Monday, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Kozhikode, and Kannur on Tuesday, and Alappuzha, Ernakulam, and Thrissur on Wednesday.

There's a chance of isolated, heavy showers in these areas. Thunderstorms are also expected.

Warning For Fishermen

Additionally, the IMD has advised against fishing along the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep due to the likelihood of strong winds and unfavourable weather that can reach speeds of 35 to 45 kmph, with occasional gusts of up to 55 kmph, between August 18 and August 22.
