Kerala Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for Kerala, predicting widespread rain with thunderstorms across the state till August 16. Meanwhile, the weather body has sounded an orange alert for Palakkad and Malappuram districts for Sunday. Additionally, Idukki, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts are under a yellow alert today.
The forecast further indicates thunderstorms with lightning and squally weather with wind speeds of 35-45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, expected along the south Kerala coast. Considering the adverse weather conditions, fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the Kerala coast until August 14.

An orange alert indicates very heavy rainfall of 11 cm to 20 cm.

Aug 13: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thirssur, Kozhikode, and Wayanad
Aug 14: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki
A yellow alert means heavy rainfall between 6 cm and 11 cm.
Wayanad Landslides
Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted the support of the central government on Saturday and said that it will be ensured that no work gets hampered due to the lack of money. On his visit to landslide-hit Wayanad, PM Modi chaired a review meeting on Saturday after undertaking aerial and on-the-ground surveys of affected sites.
Speaking in Wayanad, PM Modi said that the central government will make all efforts to fulfill all state government requests. He said that as soon as he was informed of the situation in Wayanad when the landslides hit, a Minister of State was sent to the state to take stock of the situation. NDRF, Army and Air Force teams were also deployed for rescue and relief operations.
PM Modi also said that his heart felt heavy as he visited the landslide-hit sites and also when he met the survivors at the relief camp. He highlighted the importance of collective efforts in rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, 171 personnel from Pangode Military Station, who were deployed in Wayanad to undertake rescue operations, returned on Saturday. The personnel were given a grand reception on their return to Pangode station.
