Kerala Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday stated that several districts of Kerala are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department further stated that the coastal regions are set to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds along with heavy rainfall. It further stated that while the continuous rainfall is likely to provide relief from the heat, it might also lead to waterlogging in some of the cities. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
Kerala: These districts to witness rainfall
While providing details, the IMD stated that 14 districts of Kerala are likely to witness heavy rainfall for the next five days. The weather department stated that there is a possibility of light rain with thunderstorms in several districts, including Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, and Thrissur, for the next few days. It further stated that the continuous rainfall in these regions is likely to lead to issues like waterlogging, leading to inconveniences for the residents.
The weather department further stated that Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Kannur, and Kasaragod are set to witness moderate to heavy rainfall on Wednesday. It further stated that the other districts, including Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thrissur, are also likely to receive rainfall on Thursday. The IMD has advised the fishermen to maintain a distance from the water bodies and limit their financial activities to avoid inconveniences.
It also suggested the farmers protect the crop, as waterlogging is expected in multiple regions of the state. It also advised them to not hide beneath any electricity pole or big tree during the intense rainfall. The weather department also stated that apart from Kerala, several other states, including Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh, are also likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days.
