Kerala Rain: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across Kerala, with alerts in place until Sunday. On Thursday, a yellow alert was declared for eight districts, indicating the possibility of isolated heavy rain.
The districts under alert include Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Wayanad. In Sabarimala, cloudy skies are expected, with one or two spells of moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunder. The IMD forecasts rainfall amounts ranging from 7 to 11 cm for Sannidhanam, Pampa and Nilackkal on Thursday.

While there was no significant change in minimum temperatures across Kerala in the 24 hours leading up to Wednesday morning, temperatures remained above normal in several districts, including Kannur, Malappuram, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Kollam and Thrissur. Kannur airport recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 24.3 degrees Celsius.

The yellow alert continues on Friday for Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kozhikode and Wayanad. Isolated heavy rainfall warnings are also in place for Ernakulam, Idukki, Kozhikode and Wayanad on Saturday, with Kozhikode remaining on alert for Sunday.
Although a low-pressure area over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal has weakened, the upper air cyclonic circulation persists over the region. This circulation is located over the southwest Bay of Bengal off the coast of north Tamil Nadu and extends up to 0.9 km above sea level. Additionally, another upper air cyclonic circulation is present over the southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Kerala coast, situated between 1.5 and 3.1 km above mean sea level.
