Kerala Rain: A yellow alert has been issued for seven districts in Kerala on Friday, warning residents of isolated heavy rainfall. The districts affected include Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that heavy rain is likely to occur in various parts of the state until Monday. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected in one or two locations during this period.

In addition to the rainfall warnings, the IMD has issued a maximum temperature alert, indicating that temperatures could be 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal in some areas on Thursday.

The weather conditions are influenced by a cyclonic circulation over the central parts of the south Bay of Bengal, extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level. Meanwhile, a similar circulation over the central Arabian Sea has diminished. The cyclonic circulation affecting the Gulf of Mannar and the nearby Sri Lanka coast has also weakened.

The yellow alert is set to remain in effect for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts from Friday through Sunday.

According to the latest weather bulletin, various regions of the state are expected to receive moderate rainfall over the next five days due to the cyclonic activity.

According to the 24-hour rainfall recorded on Wednesday morning, Chavara and Laha recorded 7 cm of rain, while Kurudamannil received 6 cm, Thiruvananthapuram 5 cm, and Kunnanthanam 4 cm. The minimum temperature in Thiruvananthapuram dropped to 19.7 degrees Celsius, marking the lowest temperature recorded in the city recently.
