Ketan Agarwal Murder: In a fresh update in the Ketan Agarwal murder case, a chilling detail has come to light. The accused, Siya Goyal, and her lover, Chetan Chaudhary reportedly rehearsed the murder on a hill in Pune before carrying it out at Lohagad Fort.
Pune Police have confirmed that the two accused allegedly practised pushing Ketan off a hill in Pune Lulla Nagar area before murdering him at Lohagad Fort.
According to police officials, the rehearsal site is located a short distance from Siya's residence, Leela Kunj, in Pune's Market Yard area. The investigation has also revealed that Siya and Chetan searched Google for ways to kill Ketan. Police said that before carrying out the crime, the two visited the hill alone to rehearse the murder.
Investigators further claimed that the accused prepared and rehearsed responses in case they were questioned or caught by the police. They also allegedly planned to disguise themselves during the murder to avoid suspicion.
The fresh revelation comes after Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary were taken to Lohagad Fort near Pune on Tuesday and Wednesday to reconstruct the sensational crime.
Police Took Siya To Her Residence
Police also took Siya to her residence, where they recovered the clothes she was allegedly wearing on the day of the incident, June 18. Investigating officers later took her to the hilltop where the alleged rehearsals took place.
According to the police, both accused practised how they would push Ketan off the hill.
Pune Police said the murder conspiracy was hatched in Lulla Nagar, Pune. A Pune Rural Police official said, "The investigation revealed that Siya and Chetan had rehearsed pushing Ketan off the Lohagad Fort cliff in an open space near a club in Lulla Nagar. Siya was taken to the spot today, where she identified the location where they allegedly rehearsed."
Earlier, on Sunday, police recreated the crime scene with Siya, during which a dummy was pushed off the cliff in her presence. Three days later, on Wednesday, the crime scene was recreated with Chetan as well. Police took the co-accused to the fort and reconstructed the sequence of events.
Siya and Chetan to undergo a polygraph test
Police are planning to conduct lie detector (polygraph) tests on both the accused. They have sought the court's permission to carry out the tests as part of the ongoing investigation.
Investigating officers also plan to record and compare the suspects statements with the polygraph test results.
How Chetan came under suspicion
According to the investigation, Chetan travelled to Lohagad Fort on his scooter to avoid being recorded at toll plazas and to minimise CCTV surveillance. After the murder, he allegedly returned to Pune on the same scooter. The vehicle has since been seized by the police.
Chetan also wore a hoodie while climbing the fort to conceal his identity. However, investigators believe that wearing a hoodie in 33-degree Celsius weather drew attention and ultimately led to his identification.
Police further said that the duo had finalised the murder plan weeks earlier, by the end of May.
