A 5,053-page chargesheet filed by Pune Rural Police has detailed the alleged planning behind the murder of 26-year-old businessman Ketan Agarwal, who died after being pushed from Lohagad Fort on June 18.

The chargesheet, submitted before the Vadgaon Maval court on Saturday, names Agarwal’s fiance Siya Goyal, her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary and Ritesh Hange as accused. Police have cited witness statements, WhatsApp chats, photographs, mobile phone data, call records and technical analysis as evidence in the case.

From Injury Plan To Alleged Murder Conspiracy

According to investigators, the accused initially discussed a plan to seriously injure Agarwal and explored getting an outsider from Bengaluru to carry out the attack. The plan was allegedly abandoned after they became concerned that the person could later expose their involvement.

A Bengaluru-based friend of Chaudhary who was allegedly approached during this stage has since been made a witness in the case, according to the chargesheet.

Police allege that the accused subsequently decided to carry out the murder themselves. The chargesheet states that they studied murder-related material, including films and podcasts about avoiding police detection. Investigators also said searches related to the Meghalaya honeymoon murder of Raja Raghuvanshi were found during the probe.

Why Lohagad Fort Was Chosen

Investigators said the accused surveyed several locations around Lonavala before settling on Lohagad Fort.

According to the chargesheet, Goyal and Chaudhary visited places including Tiger Point while looking for an isolated location. Police allege that Lohagad was eventually selected because a woman had died there in a fall in March 2025, which they believed could help make Agarwal’s death appear accidental.

The chargesheet further alleges that Agarwal had visited Lohagad with Goyal on June 14, four days before his death. Police claim she attempted to push him from a cliff on that occasion, but he managed to hold on and survive.

When Agarwal questioned her about the incident, she allegedly told him that she had seen a snake and had tried to protect him.

Passport Destroyed Before Planned Trip

Investigators have also alleged that the accused wanted to execute the plan before a planned Bali trip.

According to the chargesheet, Goyal had earlier insisted on visiting Lohagad on June 4. Police allege that during a pre-wedding photoshoot trip on June 6, she tore Agarwal’s passport and discarded it in a cafe washroom, preventing the planned trip from taking place.

Fake Instagram Account Used To Lure Agarwal

Another alleged element of the conspiracy was a fake Instagram account created under the name ‘Mahi’.

Police said the account used photographs of a woman known to the accused and was used to communicate with Agarwal. Messages from the account allegedly encouraged him to visit Lohagad on June 18 as part of a surprise birthday plan involving Goyal.

According to investigators, Hange helped create the plan to bring Agarwal to the fort. The account was subsequently deleted. The chargesheet also says police recovered deleted digital conversations during their investigation.

Apart from witness accounts, investigators have submitted mobile phone data, WhatsApp and other social media conversations, photographs, call detail records and technical analysis reports.

The chargesheet also alleges that Goyal had searched online for a previous fatal incident at Lohagad and that searches related to the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case were found during the investigation.

The case began after Agarwal died following a fall from Lohagad Fort on June 18. His fiance Goyal, Chaudhary and Hange were subsequently arrested and are currently in custody, according to reports.
