Kharghar Coastal Road To Boost Connectivity In Navi Mumbai; Check Cost, Route, Other Details

Kharghar Coastal Road Project: In a major update for the commuters of Mumbai, the proposed Kharghar Coastal Road (KCR) is expected to significantly boost the regional connectivity, especially in Navi Mumbai. The project is likely to be completed by the end of 2028, linking the busiest regions of the city to the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). The KCR is also set to provide convenience to the passengers by cutting the travel time and reducing traffic congestion.

While providing details, the authorities informed that the estimated cost to build the 9.678-kilometer-long project is 1020.70 crore. The road will improve the regional connectivity by linking several key regions, including Kharghar, CBD Belapur, and Nerul. The project is also providing relief to the flyers by linking the busiest regions with the international airport.

While the first phase of the ambitious project will be built between Kharghar and CBD Belapur, the second stretch will be constructed from CBD Belapur to Nerul Water Transport Jetty. The official further stated that the project will connect several key roads across the MMR region, boosting the regional connectivity significantly.

Apart from this, the Kharghar Coastal Road will also be linked with the Sion Panvel Expressway, improving the connectivity in the eastern parts of Mumbai. The officials stated that the project will also connect housing projects and corporate parks, providing major relief to thousands of professionals.

The authority also asserted that the project will also significantly cut the travel time between Kharghar, CBD Belapur, and Nerul. Apart from this, the project is also likely to boost the financial activities in the capital city of Maharashtra.

Earlier in March, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) commenced the process of construction. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also stated that several projects will be announced in the upcoming months to improve the travel experience in the city.
