Launching an apparent attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said that the soul of the King in the Electoral Voting Machine (EVM) and every institution of the country, in the ED, CBI, and Income Tax department. His remark came while the grand old party leader was addressing a maha rally in Maharashtra's Mumbai on the last day of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

Gandhi further spoke about a former senior Congress leader and said that the latter cried in front of Sonia Gandhi saying that the former party leader was ashamed for not having the power to challenge the "Shakti" (power).

"A senior leader from Maharashtra left Congress and cried in from of my mother and said 'Sonia ji, I am ashamed that I don't have the power to fight this Shakti. I do not want to go to jail.' Thousands of people have been threatened like this," said Gandhi.

"There is a word 'Shakti' in Hinduism. We are fighting against a Shakti," he added, claiming that PM Modi can't win elections "without EVMs".

"We asked the Election Commission of India to count the VVPAT (Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail) also. But our demand hasn't been accepted," he said.

"Modi is a 'mask' who works for a 'shakti' (power). He is a shallow man who doesn't have a 56-inch chest," Gandhi stated.

Party Chief Mallikarjun Kharge also spoke about "Shakti" and said, "The 'Shakti' Rahul Gandhi was talking about, I will say openly that Modiji has this Shakti in the form of RSS and Manuvaad. They want to crush us using this Shakti."

In a show of strength, leaders of several constituents of the opposition INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) grouping gathered in Mumbai for the mega rally ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, which will be held in seven phases starting April 19.
