Weeks after raising questions on the ailing infrastructure in Bengaluru, Biocon Chairman Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw has lauded the Karnataka government over improvements. On Friday, Shaw praised cleaner footpaths and newly built and repaired roads.

In a post on X, she hailed Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar for his leadership. The Deputy CM is also in charge of Bengaluru City development.

In her post, she said, "We are finally seeing visible change in cleaner foot paths and asphalt roads across the city. DK Shivakumar, your leadership has been key in rescuing our city from collapsing under the weight of garbage debris and pot holes".

Shaw requested the authorities to continue their efforts to augment Bengaluru's infrastructure. "Let’s build a world-class city through collective civic responsibility," she said in her post.

Shaw's comments sparked mixed reactions from netizens. While some agreed with her, others posted pictures of the area where the problem persists. The users pointed out that the city still needs attention on an urgent basis to deal with the existing issues.

A user named Saccidanand replied, "Cleaner footpath? This is HSR, the cradle of all startups in the country, not some inside road, but 17th cross, where most unicorns boast their presence," a user said. He responded to Shaw's post with pictures of an open drain and garbage dumped on the side of the road.

Shaw made headlines last month by engaging in an online slugfest with Shivakumar, flagging bad roads and garbage disposal issues in the city.

On October 13, Kiran had written on X, "I had an overseas business visitor to Biocon Park who said ‘Why are the roads so bad and why is there so much garbage around? Doesn’t the Govt want to support investment? I have just come from China and can't understand why India can’t get its act together, especially when the winds are favourable?"

"We are in this dire situation because of past govts' failure to act in time. This government has the opportunity to change this and act fast to fix these decades of deteriorating infrastructure and garbage management," she had added.
