Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) is set to launch a freight service on its network, which will be modelled on the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) framework. The service will operate during non-peak hours, transporting non-perishable, packaged goods while ensuring uninterrupted convenience for passengers. The Central Government has directed the introduction of cargo operations across all metro systems in the country. In March, DMRC signed an MoU with Blue Dart for urban logistics, and now Kochi Metro Rail is preparing to follow suit with its own freight services.
