Kolkata News: A 65-year-old businessman from Phoolbagan, Kolkata, ended his life by shooting himself with his licensed firearm on Saturday evening. The deceased, Jayanta Saha, who was battling cancer, was found on the rooftop of his residence on CIT Road.
According to police, Saha had recorded a video message on his mobile phone before his death, clearly stating that no one was responsible for his actions. Officials believe that the recent loss of his wife to cancer in March, combined with his own illness, may have led him to take this step, as per the Times Of India report.
Saha lived in a four-storey building with his two sons, their wives and grandchildren. He was undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer in September last year.
On Saturday afternoon, Saha’s two sons and his elder daughter-in-law had gone to New Town for a site visit related to their construction business. Saha reportedly told his younger son's wife and two house helps, Khuku and Banshi, that he would have his meal later. When he did not come out of his room for a long time, the family members began searching for him. Eventually, house help Banshi found him lying in a pool of blood on the rooftop.
