Bengal Weather: According to the Alipore Meteorological Department heavy rain and storm is likely to hit multiple West Bengal districts including the capital Kolkata over the next few days. As per the weather body, at least six districts are likely to experience gusts of up to 70 kmph. An alert has been issued for the same till Wednesday, April 30. Kolkata and surrounding areas have been witnessing wet condition over the past couple of days. The change in weather pattern has brought much needed respite to the residents from the scorching heat.
Bengal Weather: Orange Alert In THESE Districts For Today
An orange alert has been issued for Hooghly, West Midnapore, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, East Burdwan and West Burdwan on Monday. These districts are likely to receive 7 to 11 cm of rain. Along with this, there is a possibility of wind gusts of up to 70 kmph. Thunderstorms will continue in almost all the Bengal districts till Wednesday.
There is a possibility of heavy rain in North Bengal as well. Darjeeling may receive heavy rain on Sunday and Monday. Apart from this, there will be heavy rain in North Dinajpur, Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri. The speed of the storm in North Bengal may be 50 to 60 kilometers per hour.
Temperatures will drop across the state in the next few days due to thunderstorms. The mercury may drop by three to five degrees. The minimum temperature in Kolkata on Sunday was 23.6 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal. The maximum temperature on Saturday was 34.2 degrees Celsius, 1.4 degrees below normal.
