Kolkata medico rape and murder accused went to sleep after committing the crime and washed his clothes the next morning to destroy evidence, news agency PTI reported citing a police officer probing the case. The cops, however, found blood stains on the shoe of the accused, who used to frequently visit the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital despite not being associated with it.

Sanjay Roy was arrested on Saturday and sent into 14-day police custody. Roy’s earphone was a crucial clue for the police to nab him, as he was seen wearing it while entering the hospital. CCTV footage shows that the earphone was not present when he came out. According to sources, the police recovered the earphones from the crime spot, which was instrumental in solving the case.
