Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder Case: The post-mortem of the female trainee doctor who was allegedly raped and murdered while on duty at a government-run hospital in Kolkata has reportedly detected a significant amount of foreign fluid, suspected to be semen, in her body, suggesting that the alleged sexual assault was perpetrated by more than one man. The claim was carried by at least two media reports on Wednesday.
This came amidst widespread allegations from various quarters -- including protesting doctors and the BJP -- that West Bengal's ruling TMC was attempting to cover up the facts of the horrific case and shield the culprits. Dr Subarna Goswami, who is an additional general secretary of the All India Federation of Govt Doctors' Association, said the autopsy report mentioned as much as 151 gm of liquid from the vaginal swab.

"That quantity cannot be of one person. It suggests the involvement of multiple people," Dr Goswami told India Today. Seperately, a report by NDTV cited a court submission by the victim's parents. They reportedly told the Calcutta High Court that the autopsy found 150 mg of semen in their deceased daughter's body, "a quantity suggesting involvement of more than one individual, further corroborated the suspicion of gang rape".
On Wednesday, the Kolkata Police handed over Sanjoy Roy, the sole accused arrested in connection with the case, to the CBI. This came a day after the Calcutta High Court transferred the probe to the central agency. Three groups of CBI officers have been formed to investigate the matter, an official cited by news agency PTI said.
