Durga Puja 2024: Top 5 Themed Pandals In Kolkata

Ekdalia Evergreen (Puri Jagannath Temple Theme)

One of the most famous Durga Pujo pandals of South Kolkata, this biggie took up the theme of Puri's Jagannath Temple by replicating the Dham. Also, just like the flags at top of the Puri temple are being changed every day, the same will be reportedly incorporated in the pandal too.

Santosh Mitra Square (The Sphere Of Las Vagas Theme)

We reach another major attraction, Santosh Mitra Square in Lebutala, Bowbazar, about 7 km south of Sreebhumi. This puja, which is in its 89th year, has chosen to replicate the Sphere of Las Vegas at its pandal utilising special effects and lighting in an effort to bring a little bit of Vegas to Kolkata.

College Square (Switzerland Parliament Theme)

The College Square puja, now in its 77th year, is another site that draws large crowds. The College Square puja, known for its lighting and reflection in the swimming pool next to the pandal, has selected the Switzerland Parliament House as its theme this year. So, this year, pandal-hoppers are likely to experience this Swiss delight in the City of Joy. The pandal will supposedly be 100-120 feet tall and 100-130 feet wide.

Sreebhumi Sporting Club (Tirupati Balaji Temple Theme)

The Sreebhumi puja, now in its 51st year, has previously worked on religious themes, such as the Puri Jagannath temple and St Peter's Basilica of Italy. They have collaborated on completely odd topics, such as Dubai's Burj Khalifa. What jumps out year after year is the endeavor to make the pandal as near to the original monument as possible through lighting and décor. So, this year, people in Kolkata can expect to see the Tirupati Balaji temple relocated to South Dum Dum!

Kalyani ITI More (Wat Arun Temple Of Bangkok)

After Petronas Twin Tower and Grand Lisboa, Kolkata's Kalyani ITI More Luminous Club has taken up work to replicate Bangkok's Wat Arun Temple for this year's Durga pandal. The structure is likely to extend 160 ft in height. Reportedly, lakhs of sea shells are being used to decorate the interiors.
