Kolkata Metro has lifted the suspension of services on the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade section of the Green Line on Ram Navami. Since February, services on the Green Line had been occasionally suspended on Sundays to test the computerized signaling system before fully opening the entire route.

Currently, the Green Line operates in two separate sections, Howrah Maidan-Esplanade and Sealdah-Sector V. The Esplanade-Sealdah section was ready, but had been delayed due to several issues like subsidence. Work is still ongoing to link the signaling system of both sections before the full route opens.

In an announcement, Kolkata Metro confirmed that services on the Howrah Maidan-Esplanade section will be available this Sunday. However, the Metro did not mention the reason for lifting the suspension.

The services will start at 2:15 pm, and the last trains will depart from the terminals at 9:45 pm, according to the statement.

The Green Line, which features India’s first underwater metro tunnel and the country’s deepest metro shaft, connects Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V.
