Kolkata Metro Launches Awareness Campaign

An official stated on Wednesday that the Kolkata Metro has started an awareness campaign to maintain the stations by keeping them free of plastic and clean. According to him, the initiative was started since it has been noticed that certain travelers are leaving trash throughout the metro area.

"Making the metro plastic-free is not going to be easy and the responsibility not only lies on the authority, but it is also the responsibility of the passengers," the official said.

In addition to guaranteeing environmentally responsible disposal at the stations, he said the metro promoted the use of affordable reusable bags. He said that the campaign has the participation of security personnel and employees of Kolkata Metro.
