The Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation has reduced the number of Saturday services on the Green Line from November 1. The green line, also called the East-West Metro, connecting Salt Lake Sector V to Howrah Maidan, is mainly used by office goers. 

According to the new schedule, quoted by the Millennium Post, 186 services, 93 up and 93 down, will now be operating on Saturdays on the Green Line, instead of the usual 226 services. The changes will be in place only for Saturdays and only on the Green Line.

Besides reducing the number of services, there is also a change in the timing of the metro services. Here are the new timings: 

First Service:

  • At 06:30 hrs. from Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V (No Change)

  • At 06:32 hrs. from Salt Lake Sector V to Howrah Maidan (Instead of 06:39 hrs.)

Last Service:

  • At 21:45 hrs. from Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V (No Change)

  • At 21:47 hrs. from Salt Lake Sector V to Howrah Maidan (No Change)

Yellow Line Adds More Trains From November 3

Kolkata Metro Railway on Friday announced an increase in train frequency on the Yellow Line, starting November 3. According to a statement from a metro official, 120 services (60 UP and 60 Down) will operate on weekdays between Noapara and Jai Hind Bimanbandar. 

The metro official further added that the Yellow Line will now operate with extended service hours from 7:18 AM to 9:30 PM, replacing the earlier schedule of 7:55 AM to 8:17 PM. The first train from Noapara to Bimanbandar (airport) will depart at 7:18 AM instead of 7:55 AM, while the first service from the airport to Noapara will depart at 7:40 AM instead of 8:00 AM.
