Kolkata Minor Gang-Rape Case: In a chilling incident, a minor girl was drugged and gang-raped in a car in West Bengal's Kolkata, prompting concerns about the safety of women and girls.

The accused allegedly recorded the sexual assault. The police are trying to identify the accused, locate the vehicle allegedly used in the incident, and confirm the exact location of the crime.

Minor took lift, was gang-raped later

The complaint has been lodged by the victim's mother at Kolkata's Sarsuna police station, wherein she has alleged that about a month ago, two men gave her daughter a lift in a car in the Behala area of the metropolis, but drugged and gang-raped her instead.

She also added that an acquaintance of the girl was also present in the car. The accused filmed the sexual assault and later used the footage to threaten the victim.

A senior police officer told news agency PTI the incident allegedly occurred in April after the girl accepted a lift in a vehicle near Behala. One of her acquaintances was also present in the car, he said.

"During the ride, the girl was allegedly made to consume a food item after which she fell unconscious. She later stated that she regained awareness at another place and realised she had been sexually assaulted," the officer said.

The complainant stated that the minor fell unconscious after being fed a drug-laced food. She later regained consciousness at a different location and realised she had been sexually assaulted.

The police have said that an FIR has been registered under provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Statements recorded, hunt for accused and vehicles underway

The officials added that the victim's family approached police after some delay, as the girl was reportedly in shock after the brutal incident.

They added that the statements have been recorded and that all aspects of the case are being investigated. The official added that they are also investigating the role of another girl mentioned in the complaint.
