The Kolkata Police has issued a traffic advisory regarding the Indian Premier League (IPL) opening ceremony. The first IPL match is to be played today in the Eden Garden.
As per the official announcement, the Kolkata Traffic Police has said that some of the major roads in the West Bengal capital will be affected by the UPL match.
These roads are to be affected
As per the police, traffic at Kings Way, Auckland Road, Strand Road, Red Road, Mayo Road, and RR Avenue will be affected due to the IPL match at around 7:30 pm.
The commuters who are traveling for the match must also look for the advisory before and after the match.
Traffic movement at the Mahajati Sadan, CR Avenue, MG Road, College Street, Bidhan Sarani, and Vivekananda Road would be affected at around 4:00 pm for a procession.
At around 21:30 pm, the traffic movement at MG Road, Rabindra Sarani, Canning Street, Barbourne Road, and Portuguese Church Street will remain affected.
The Kolkata Traffic Police has advised commuters to keep a tab on the latest updates that are to follow.

Orange alert in Kolkata
The commuters also need to check for weather updates as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Kolkata. The weather may also cause disruption to traffic movement in the city.
As per the weather department, moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, is likely over parts of the state, including Kolkata, from March 20 through March 22.
Notably, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is the defending IPL champion. It is set to take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru today. The opening ceremony performances have been scheduled, with Shreyas Ghosal and Disha Patani among the artists performing.
