Kolkata News: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has noted an unusual circulation pattern in the Bay of Bengal that has created ideal conditions for strong winds to reach West Bengal. However, the IMD has not yet declared that winter is approaching.

This meteorological phenomenon, which began in mid-November, has resulted in a slight decrease in nighttime temperatures across the state. The IMD forecasts that temperatures may drop further over the weekend. The Alipore Meteorological Department has indicated that overnight temperatures in the Himalayan region and Gangetic Bengal could fall by two to three degrees, but this change is not expected before Friday.

For the next few days, dry weather is predicted to continue in all southern West Bengal districts, with no chance of rain. The weather office mentioned that night temperatures will remain stable for about three days before potentially decreasing.

In northern West Bengal, areas like Darjeeling and Kalimpong might experience light rain from Monday to Wednesday, while the rest of the region is expected to remain dry.

The IMD has reported no significant depression over the Bay of Bengal near West Bengal at this time. However, a low-pressure system in the Southwest Bay could influence weather conditions, bringing rain to the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

On Monday, Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 22.8 degrees Celsius, which is 1.6 degrees above normal, while the maximum temperature reached 31.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday, 0.2 degrees above normal. The sky in Kolkata is expected to remain mostly clear throughout the day on Monday.
