Kota Girl Kidnapping News:  Days after the father of a 21-year-old girl from Madhya Pradesh alleged her kidnapping from Rajasthan's Kota, police refuted the claims by saying that she faked the abduction for money. Kota Police on Wednesday said that the girl staged the whole kidnapping drama to extort money from her parents.

Notably, the father of the girl had approached the police a few days ago alleging that her daughter was kidnapped from Kota and the kidnappers demanded Rs 30 lakh as ransom. He showed a few pictures of the girl in which she could be seen tied with a rope, with a cloth stuffed in her mouth. He further mentioned that his wife had brought their daughter to Kota, Rajasthan in August last year to enrol her at a coaching centre.

However, after the preliminary investigation, the Kota Police refuted the claims of the victims, saying that 'no crime has been committed as there was no kidnapping.'

"In the investigation so far, evidence shows that no crime has been committed against the girl and no kidnapping has taken place. From the evidence found so far, the incident appears to be false," Kota Superintendent of Police Amrita Duhan said.

Duhan mentioned that they put together teams after they got word about his father's police complaint from their contacts in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh.

While investigating, they met one of the girl's friends, who told them that she had dreams of studying abroad. Her friend also informed the police that she was unhappy with studying in India and needed money to study overseas.

For the past 6-7 months, they couldn't find out where she had been staying in Kota, and there was no record of her being enrolled in any coaching institute or hostel in the city.

According to her mother, she was admitted to a coaching institute on August 3 and stayed there until August 5, after which she went to Indore, Madhya Pradesh. To make her parents think she was still at the institute, the girl sent messages about her test scores from a different number.

Then she took it a step further and faked her own kidnapping. On March 18, she sent her father photos of her hands and feet tied up and demanded a ransom of ₹30 lakh.

"I request her to come back home and go to the nearest police station for help," the officer said.
