Krishna Janmabhoomi Case: Allahabad High Court rejected the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) which sought to hand over the disputed land of Shahi Idgah Masjid to the Hindu side, on Wednesday. The petitioner demanded the ownership of the disputed premises to Hindus. The court's decision came today at around 2 pm on Wednesday.
The division bench of Chief Justice Pritinkar Diwakar and Justice Ashutosh Srivastava pronounced the verdict. In this case, both the parties gave their respective arguments, after the completion of the hearing, the court reserved its judgment on September 4. This PIL was filed by Supreme Court lawyer Mehak Maheshwari in the year 2020. A demand was also made to allow Hindus to worship in the disputed premises till the case is settled in the court. The PIL in its current form also demanded a scientific probe of the disputed premises by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI).
The claim made by the Hindu side
In the PIL filed by the Hindu side, it has been claimed that earlier there used to be a temple in the disputed premises, which was demolished and the Shahi Idgah Mosque was constructed. It has been claimed in the petition that at the place where the mosque is now, there used to be the jail of Kansa in the Dwapar era, where Kansa had imprisoned the parents of Lord Shri Krishna and it was in this prison that Lord Shri Krishna was born. Therefore that is the real birthplace of God.
The petition has been rejected once
This petition has already been rejected once due to the absence of the lawyer during the hearing. This PIL was rejected on 19 January 2021. The High Court had re-stored this PIL in March 2022. The High Court had given instructions to present it again for a hearing.
