Kurnool Bus Fire: A day after 20 people were charred to death in a bus accident in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool, a video of the bike involved in the accident has gone viral on the internet. The purported video shows the deceased biker, Shivasankar, entering a petrol pump moments before the mishap in the wee hours of Friday.

Sharing the CCTV footage of the petrol pump, netizens claimed that the biker appears to be under the influence of alcohol. While the police are yet to confirm the video, the time stamp in the viral CCTV footage seems to be in line with the sequence of events before the bus accident.

The video shows two men on a bike stopping at a petrol pump near the accident site at around 2:22 am on October 24. When they found no attendant at the pump, the man riding pillion got off the two-wheeler, likely to find someone for refuelling. The man riding the bike was also seen getting off the bike and strolling around the pump.

The video later shows the biker turning the two-wheeler around on its stand and briefly losing balance due to the sudden acceleration. However, he managed to balance the bike before riding away.

According to the police, the crash took place between 3:00 am and 3:30 am near Ullindakonda. According to preliminary investigation, the bus collided with the bike and caught fire, leading to the death of 20 people, including two children. A total of 46 people were travelling on the bus when the incident took place near Chinnatekur in Kallur mandal of Kurnool.

What Led To The Bus Fire?

According to the Kurnool District Collector (DC), after the collision, the two-wheeler got stuck under the bus. Petrol leaked from the bike, which led to the massive fire, which engulfed the entire bus. The bus doors failed to open after the accident, blocking people's way out.

"This incident happened late at night, and the passengers were sleeping. The bus wires were cut after the accident, and the bus doors didn't open after the accident. We're investigating the matter. The two drivers escaped from the fire. The passengers were coming from Hyderabad, and we're tracing the deceased family members. We've set up a control room for help," DC Siri said.
