Kuwait Building Fire: An Indian Air Force C-130J special aircraft that departed early Friday morning from Kuwait, carrying the mortal remains of 45 Indian nationals who tragically lost their lives in the fire incident in Mangaf, reached the Cochin International Airport today. Most of the victims who lost their lives in the Kuwait fire incident were residents of Kerala (23).

Union Minister of State and Gonda MP KV Singh, who coordinated with Kuwaiti authorities to ensure swift repatriation, was also onboard the aircraft, the Indian embassy said earlier this morning. Singh reached Kuwait on Thursday and ensured the well-being of those injured in the tragic fire incident at a labour housing facility in the Mangaf.

- The mortal remains would be handed over to the appropriate State Government representatives in Kochi and Delhi. Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has arrived at the Cochin International Airport where the special IAF aircraft carrying the mortal remains of 45 Indian victims arrived.

- Union Minister Suresh Gopi and several other leaders paid homage to the mortal remains of the victims of the fire incident in Kuwait.

- Some of the Indians who lost their lives in the fire incident, belong to other north Indian states including Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana. After Kerala, the IAF aircraft is expected to reach Delhi to transfer the mortal remains.
- Kuwaiti authorities have already carried out DNA tests on the bodies as part of the identification process. According to the Kuwaiti Fire Force, the fire was caused by an ‘electrical circuit’.
- MA Yusuff Ali, a prominent NRI businessman and chairman of the UAE-based Lulu Group has announced Rs 5 lakh each for the families of the deceased in the Kuwait fire incident.
- Earlier, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin had announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of seven Tamil Nadu natives who lost their lives in the Kuwait fire tragedy.
