MP Ladli Behna Scheme: Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav has announced an increase in the monthly aid to women under Ladli Behna Yojna from Rs 1,250 to Rs 1,500 after Diwali this year. In a major update for the 26th installment, he also added that it will be sent into the women's account with Rs 250 extra for Raksha Bandhan.

CM Yadav said that a special budget of Rs 27,147 crore, including Rs 18,699 crore for the Ladli Behna scheme, has been earmarked for women. The increase in aid will benefit more than 1.27 crore women of the state

"Ladli Behna Yojana beneficiaries would receive Rs 1,250 plus an additional Rs 250 on Raksha Bandhan. After Diwali, the monthly benefit would be hiked to Rs 1,500," he said at a women's empowerment and tribal pride conference in Sarai here on Friday.

CM Yadav also highlighted the aid to the girls under the Ladli Laxmi Yojna. He stated that so far 51 lakh girls have benefited from the Ladli Laxmi Yojana, receiving a total of Rs 672 crore in assistance.

It is worth mentioning that the Ladli Behna Yojna was started by the former state CM and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He coined the name of the scheme on behna (sister) as he is popularly known in the state as mama (maternal uncle). It was launched on June 10, 2023.

Initially, the aid under the scheme was Rs 1,000, but it gradually increased to Rs 1,250 and will now be increased to Rs 1,500. The scheme is widely considered as a masterstroke by the Shivraj Chouhan government that helped the BJP to retain power despite anti-incumbency.

Yadav also said more than 9,000 tribal families have been granted land rights under the Forest Rights Act. He promised 33 per cent reservation for women in the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly polls.
