After two days of clear sunshine, the weather deteriorated again in several parts of Himachal on Monday. In the morning, snowfall began in the mountain peaks, and by the afternoon, snow started falling in Lahaul-Spiti and Manali as well. Heavy snowfall is occurring at the Rohtang, Shinkula, Kunzum and Baralacha passes. Snowfall is also happening from the Atal Tunnel to the tourist town of Manali, including the Lahaul-Spiti district.
Life in Lahaul-Spiti has once again been disrupted. The upper regions of Lahaul-Spiti and Manali are at risk of avalanches. The administration has advised people not to travel in these areas. Electricity, which had been almost restored in Manali, has been disrupted again in most areas.
The work of clearing roads in the Lahaul Valley was also in its final stages but has now been affected due to fresh snowfall. There were hopes of the electricity supply being restored soon, but now further delays are expected.
Due to the non-arrival of question papers, the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education has postponed the 10th and 12th-grade exams for two to three subjects, which were scheduled to start on March 4 in Udaypur, Kelong and Pangi in Lahaul. More than 200 roads are closed, and around 800 electricity transformers are down in Kullu and Lahaul.
The temperature was recorded at 11.78°C in Himachal Pradesh on March 4. Today's forecast shows temperatures ranging between a minimum of 6.77°C and a maximum of 14.37°C. The relative humidity stands at 71 per cent, with wind speeds reaching 71 km/h. The sun rose at 06:41 AM and will set at 06:18 PM.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, the temperatures are expected to range from a low of 3.73°C to a high of 19.14°C. Tomorrow, the humidity is forecasted to drop to 30 per cent.
