Lalbagh Flower Show 2024: On the occasion of Independence Day, the 216th edition of the Lalbagh Flower Show will kick off in Bengaluru's Lalbagh today, August 8. For the event, 32 lakh flowers would be utilised, according to Local 18 Karnataka. Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, will inaugurate the Lalbagh Flower Show. The theme of this year's edition is based on Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's Life and Times.
Bhimrao Yashwant Ambedkar, the grandson of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, will also take part in the inaugural session. To entertain the guests, the public will be able to participate in a variety of competitions following the inauguration, including Ikebana, Pushpa Bharati, vegetable and fruit carving, and bonsai.

Total Flowers Used For The Theme
For Babasaheb Ambedkar's theme, between seven and eight lakh flowers are being used. Foreign flower varieties from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, and Jammu are used for the decoration. There were 1.50 lakh flowers planted and grown in Lalbagh Nursery for the unique decoration. The flowers have currently been picked.
Reportedly, a strategy meeting was convened in advance of the event by the Horticulture Department, volunteers, and the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to guarantee that the well-known show stays waste-free.
Security Arrangements
At Rs 2.80 crore, the required number of home guards, police officers, and security professionals have been sent to the flower exhibition to ensure that no untoward incidents occur. This year, two varieties of flowers—foreign and native—have been used, and the flower display has been given a total of Rs 2.80 crore.
Entry Fee And Time
Adult entry to the flower show is Rs 80 and is available at all four of Lalbagh's gates. The children's tickets cost Rs 30. Schoolchildren are allowed to enter free of charge to the location. The flower exhibition will run from 9 AM until 6.30 PM.
Parking Rules
The following preparations have been made by city traffic police for the 12-day flower display at Lalbagh, which starts today.
Parkings Allowed At: Dr Marigowda Road- Al-Ameen College premises for two-wheelers, KH Road- Shantinagar BMTC multi-storyey parking for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers, Dr Marigowda Road- Hopcoms parking lot for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers, JC Road- Corporation parking lot for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
Attractions
This time, to raise awareness and share information on Dr BR Ambedkar's life, the Department of Horticulture will host a fruit and flower display. The audience will see BR Ambedkar's life, accomplishments, and education in this. The photo of the constitution will be embellished with flowers.
