According to the police, the case stems from a complaint filed by his former live-in partner. The woman was in a live-in relationship with Lalit Modi for 7-8 years, and they often visited a well-known gym in South Delhi. The woman reportedly demanded Rs 50 crore to settle the matter.

The case was registered at the New Friends Colony police station in South-East Delhi. Modi was produced before a court and remanded to a one-day judicial custody. He will be produced again before the court on Friday, The Indian Express reported. However, the Delhi Police has not released an official statement yet.
