Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal released the book “Media Law and Ethics” authored by senior journalist Rajesh Upadhyay and Dr. Shishir Kumar Singh in Delhi. The book focuses on the changing nature of media in the age of AI.

The book is titled “Media Law and Ethics: A Contemporary Perspective, 2025.” It presents comprehensive insights into the legal and ethical aspects of media. At the launch, the Union Minister said that this book will help define standards of media accountability.

What’s inside the book?

The book provides detailed information on defamation law and intellectual property law. It also sheds light on the Official Secrets Act and the Right to Information (RTI) Act. In addition, it explains data protection law and the Indian Digital Personal Data Protection Act in detail.

A valuable resource for journalists

A dedicated section of the book focuses on media ethics. It outlines the basic ethical principles for journalists and places special emphasis on the need for ethical values to tackle fake news and misinformation spreading through social media.
