A college student in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore allegedly killed and raped his 25-year-old classmate and was arrested days later. The accused, who allegedly shared a video of the assault in the college WhatsApp group, appeared unconcerned and showed no remorse when asked why he committed the crime.

According to the HT report, the accused, identified as Piyush Dhanotia, is a resident of Mandsaur district in Madhya Pradesh. The partially decomposed body of his classmate was discovered in Indore on Friday. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Dishesh Agrawal confirmed his identity.

According to police, Piyush allegedly confessed during questioning that he strangled the woman and later violated her body. However, officials said he has been changing his statements repeatedly during interrogation. Investigators claim he admitted to forcing himself on her and killing her when she resisted. The details of the crime were so distressing that the woman sub-inspector leading the investigation reportedly broke down, while Piyush remained calm and showed no remorse while interacting with the media.

Video Went Viral

A video of the accused has surfaced online showing him smiling when questioned about the murder. Displaying no apparent remorse, he said, “Whatever had to happen has happened. What will you do now?” When reporters continued to press him for a motive, he responded, “Let the time come, I will tell everyone.”

What The Investigation Revealed

Police said Piyush Dhanotia admitted to strangling his 25-year-old classmate on February 10 before locking his rented room and fleeing. The woman was reported missing the same day. On February 11, videos featuring her and an unidentified man were circulated in their college WhatsApp group, with her face visible while the man’s identity was concealed.

On Friday, locals alerted authorities after a strong foul smell began coming from Dhanotia’s locked room. When police broke open the door, they found the woman’s body in a semi-decomposed condition. During the probe, investigators also claimed the accused later attempted occult practices, allegedly trying to communicate with the victim’s spirit.

“The accused also performed witchcraft near Panvel, in Navi Mumbai while on the run. The accused claims that he was mentally disturbed after the murder and wanted to communicate with the woman’s spirit through witchcraft,” the DCP said.

Police said the probe is still underway.
