Delhi News:  VK Saxena, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, has granted permission to prosecute five engineers in the Rs 200 crore corruption case involving Delhi's government hospitals. LG Saxena has given the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) the authority to investigate and charge five PWD engineers under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.

The ACB detained the owners of two enterprises, including a former top PWD official, in connection with a Rs 200 crore fraud involving the construction of hospitals during the Corona outbreak.

These accused had partnered and committed a Rs 200 crore scam involving construction contracts by submitting bogus invoices in eight major Delhi government hospitals, including LNJP, GTB, BSA, and GB Pant. The ACB was examining the situation after filing a case.

The arrested officer has been named as Anil Kumar Ahuja, who was then PWD's Chief Engineer Health and has since resigned as Additional Director General (ADG). Vinay Kumar, the proprietor of AV Enterprises, and Akshitij Birmani of Vivek Associates have also been detained.

According to ACB Joint Commissioner Madhur Verma, the bureau conducted a thorough inquiry into numerous projects in Delhi government hospitals that were given to private businesses during the Corona pandemic.

The inquiry found that all procedures were violated when these two businesses were given contracts for various projects in eight Delhi government hospitals during the time of COVID-19. Following this, money was paid without any work being done.

According to the official, the inquiry indicated that the then Chief Engineer Anil Kumar Ahuja and M/s AV Enterprises engaged in a financial transaction of around Rs 1.25 crore. On December 5, 2020, AV Enterprises sent Rs 6 lakh in the account of Anil Kumar Ahuja's daughter-in-law.
