Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated three state-of-the-art health projects at Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Hospital. On this occasion, CM Gupta said that her government was taking big steps towards strengthening the health system of the national capital.
In the first major project, CM Gupta inaugurated the Medical Genetic Ward at the LNJP Hospital. This is the first such center in Delhi, where it will be possible to treat those newborns who come with serious diseases in their genes even before birth. This technique will also help ascertain which genetic disease the child may have in the future.

The National Advanced Testing (NAT) Lab was launched as the second project by CM Gupta. Through this state-of-the-art lab, blood-borne diseases can be identified in advance, which will save many lives. "Blood saves lives, and through this lab we will be able to save many lives in time," she said.
Apart from these, the third initiative is the Human Milk Bank, where milk will be collected from those mothers who are willing to provide their milk to other newborns. By providing this milk to needy infants, it will help in reducing malnutrition and infant mortality rate.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also attacked the Kejriwal-led previous government.
"In the last 10-11 years, Delhi got only a sham in the name of the health system. Today the situation is such that not even a single bed is available per thousand population in Delhi, and even if private hospitals are added, this ratio is only 1.5," she said.
Highlighting the huge shortage of staff, machines and medicines in Delhi hospitals, she said that her government was committed to improving all these areas.
On the spike in Covid cases, CM Gupta said the government was vigilant and beds were available in hospitals as per the need.
