New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: In order to provide relief to people amid coronavirus lockdown, the central government on Friday announced that all neighbourhood and standalone shops, including those located in residential complexes, were allowed to reopen from Saturday.
The government, however, said that shops located in COVID-19 hotspot and containment zones, sale of non-essential items by e-commerce platforms and sale of liquor will not be allowed during the lockdown.
"All shops registered under the the Shops and Establishment Act of the respective State/UT, including shops in residential complexes and market complexes, except shops in multi-brand and single brand malls, outside the limits of municipal corporations and municipalities, with 50 per cent strength of workers with wearing of masks and social distancing being mandatory will be allowed to function," the government said in its order.
However, some states have not allowed the shops to reopen from Saturday, saying a "decision in this regard will be taken after a review of situation".
As the central government has allowed some shops to reopen, following is the list of states that have not allowed the shops to reopen:
Assam:
Assam was the first state in India which said that it has not taken a decision regarding the Centre's order, adding that it will review the situation in the state first.
"No relaxation in ongoing lockdown has been decided by the Government of Assam yet - like opening of shops, beauty parlours etc. A decision in this regard will be taken only on 27 April, 2020," Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna said.
Delhi:
Delhi has also decided not to implment the Centre's order, saying the state government will review the situation in the national capital first. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that any decision on the directive of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will be taken after the review of the situation by the state government.
Goa:
The state government in Goa has also issued an order to all the gymnasiums, cinema theatres, public swimming pools, both stand alone and in hotels, resorts etc. Casinos, spa and massage parlours/salons, river cruises, night clubs and multiplexes to remain shut till further orders.
