Amid queries from several BJP leaders regarding the name of prime ministerial candidate of the INDIA bloc in case it emerges victorious in the Lok Sabha Election 2024, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday clarified that he does not consider himself as the prime ministerial face of the opposition bloc. "I have no such intention. We (AAP) are a very small party… contesting only 22 seats," Kejriwal said during an interview with news agency PTI.

The Delhi Chief Minister said that his primary goal is to protect the country and its democracy from the current ‘dictatorship’. Kejriwal also emphasised that if the BJP government voted to power again, all opposition leaders will face imprisonment and the party will manipulate the electoral process.

Arvind Kejriwal also clarified that INDIA bloc’s prime ministerial candidate will be decided following the results of Lok Sabha Election 2024 that will be announced on June 4. "Everyone will be in jail and after that they will conduct an election and keep winning. Therefore, democracy has to be saved. Who will be the face, will be decided after June 4,” Kejriwal told news agency PTI.

The Delhi CM emphasised that he expected the opposition alliance to secure victory in the national capital. “There is such a wave of AAP and INDIA bloc that I would not be surprised that the previous records of Vidhan Sabha polls in which we (AAP) won 67 seats (in 2015) and 62 seats (in 2020) are broken this time,” Kejriwal said.
