Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Amid the ongoing Lok Sabha election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed two back-to-back rallies in Rajasthan, one in Banswara and the other in Jalore. Through his speeches, PM Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and the Gandhi family that sits at its helm. In Banswara, the Prime Minister linked the grand old party to "urban naxals" over its supposed poll promise to redistribute wealth possessed by the citizens of the country. At the same rally, PM Modi also took a caustic jibe at the Gandhis, which he referred to as the Congress' 'Shahi Parivar (Royal Family)', in the context of the party's poll alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi, while addressing the rally in Jalore, had taken an apparent jibe at Congress matriarch Sonia Gandhi, saying that "those who cannot win elections have deserted the field" and resorted to becoming Rajya Sabha members from Rajasthan. Notably, Sonia Gandhi won the election to Rajya Sabha unopposed earlier this year after being nominated by her party from Rajasthan. Moreover, one of the Prime Minister's barbs managed to evoke a response from Congress scion and party MP Rahul Gandhi himself.
'Congress Wants To Snatch Mangalsutras'
While speaking about the Congress' manifesto, in which it has supposedly promised to redistribute the assets held by the country's populace, PM Modi said, "The leaders who have left Congress are saying one thing: It is not the Congress of before, it is now trapped in the clutches of the Leftists and urban Naxals...look at their manifesto, what Congress has said in its manifesto is serious and worrying. They have said that if they form a government then a survey of property belonging to every person will be conducted."

Notably, Rahul Gandhi recently spoke about the need to conduct a survey for a more equitable distribution of the country's wealth, which erupted into a political row. The Congress party later clarified that it didn't mention "redistribution" in its manifesto nor did Rahul Gandhi promise to redistribute the nation's wealth. Party leader Jairam Ramesh asserted that the party favours a "comprehensive socio-economic caste census," while alleging that Gandhi's words were "misquoted".
'Shahi Parivar Won't Vote For Own Party'
Taunting the Congress over its seat-sharing with AAP in Delhi for the ongoing polls, PM Modi said, "There is no Congress candidate in the New Delhi constituency where the party's 'Shahi Parivar' resides. And, it will be for the first time since Independence that they won't vote for their own party. Notably, AAP's Somnath Bharti is the joint INDIA bloc candidate from the New Delhi constituency, which covers the residence of Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi. Since there is no Congress candidate from the constituency, the mother-son duo, in all likelihood, will vote for the AAP nominee.
