Lucknow News: In a major crackdown, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) sealed 20 coaching centres and libraries for illegal basement constructions and operations, jagran.com reported. In a similar move, action was taken against several coaching centres in Noida, Chandigarh and Madhya Pradesh recently for violating building bylaws. The centres have come under radar following the deaths of three UPSC aspirants in Delhi's Old Rajinder Nagar IAS coaching centre. IAS aspirants Shreya Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni from Telangana and Navin Dalwin from Kerala died after the basement of Rau's IAS Study Circle, being used as a library, got flooded due to rains in the national capital on July 27.
On Tuesday, several LDA teams inspected 107 coaching centres operating in different areas. Many centres, including the coaching centre Unacademy operating in the basement of Rohtas Pandit House on Shahnajaf Road in Hazratganj, did not have proper ventilation.
According to LDA vice-president Prathamesh Kumar Singh, construction and operation of the basement against the norms poses a threat to the safety of nearby buildings and life. Therefore, zone-wise teams were formed to take action.
Coaching Centre, Libraries Sealed
Scholar Hub Library, Silence Zone Library, Prayas Library, Lakshya Library, Star Library, The Study Point Library, Vision IAS Library have been sealed in Aliganj. Allen Coaching Centre in Viraj Khand of Gomti Nagar, Educare Institute in Vibhav Khand. Mahindra Coaching Library in the basement of Bhatia Complex near Kapurthala crossing, From Eye to Brain Coaching Centre opened in the basement near AKTU crossing were sealed.
Eklavya Library operating in the basement of Thakurganj Basant Vihar Colony, Aditya Classes, Fundamakers, Ashish Classes, NEET Score High, Tushar Library and My Vision Coaching Centre in Kanpur Road Scheme were sealed. UNSAT Institute located on Sapru Marg in Hazratganj and Vidya Peeth Coaching Centre operating in an illegal basement on Rana Pratap Marg were also sealed.
