Lucknow Crime: In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old man shot his father dead and dismembered his body in Lucknow after a heated argument over his career. The officials, while providing details, stated that Akshat Pratap Singh, the accused, was frustrated over repeated pressure to prepare for the NEET competitive exam. The body of 50-year-old Manvendra Singh was recovered from inside a drum after the police arrived at his home. The officials stated that the accused was questioned after parts of the deceased's body were found in the drum.
What Led To The Incident?
Manvendra Pratap Singh had a business in pharmaceuticals and the liquor trade and allegedly pressured his son to prepare for the NEET competitive exam. The officials stated that prior to this tragic incident, Singh had been involved in heated arguments with his son several times. A missing person's report was registered on February 20; however, the police recovered parts of his body when they arrived at his home.
"He was in the process of getting rid of the body part when we intervened," reported the Times of India, citing police sources. "His inconsistent statements raised red flags. Strict interrogation led to his confession," Vikrant Vir, DCP Central Zone, stated. Akshat Pratap, the accused, broke down and confessed to the crime after police questioned him after recovering parts of Singh's body.
The accused was stopped by the police on Monday evening after he was going to dispose of the torso in a remote part of the city. While the accused himself had lodged a missing person complaint on Friday, he confessed to killing his father after a minor interrogation.
The officials raided the home with Akshat in custody on Monday evening and recovered the drum containing parts of the victim's body. The accused had dismembered his father's body in front of his sister and also threatened her to not discuss the matter with anyone.
